FacebookCan you send a message to a Facebook user without having a Facebook account? Yes, it is possible. What you need is just an email account. Using this email account, you can easily send a message to a Facebook user, who may not even be your friend or friend of friend. Even though you may not have a Facebook account yourself, you can thus send such a message to a Facebook user. Here is how to do it.

Two caveats first. Firstly, you cannot send a message to a Facebook Page, since a Facebook Page is not meant for an individual. Facebook Pages are meant for organizations, businesses, celebrities, and bands to enable them to connect with people. A Facebook Page does not have a message box or Inbox, so no message can be sent to it.

Secondly, using the method described in this article, you cannot send a message to a Facebook user if he has not created a unique username for him [for more details, see: What is a Facebook username and how can I get it?]. How to find out whether a Facebook user has created a unique username for him? Well, if the Facebook Profile URL (i.e., web address) of a Facebook user is of the form http://www.facebook.com/myname, then he has a unique username, and his username would be myname. On the other hand, if the Facebook Profile URL of a Facebook user is of the form:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is a 15-digit number associated with that Facebook profile, then that Facebook user has not yet created a unique username for himself.

Thus, you can send a message to any individual Facebook user who has created a unique username for him. To send him a message, you must know his unique username. How to know the username of a user? Well, it is quite easy. As mentioned above, if the Facebook Profile URL (i.e., web address) of a Facebook user is http://www.facebook.com/myname, then his unique username is myname. So, in this way, you can find the unique username of any Facebook user, if he has created it.

Once you know that the unique username of a Facebook user is myname, you can now easily send him a message by sending him an email at the address: myname@facebook.com.

That’s it! It’s that simple!! So, login to any of your email account, irrespective of whether or not you’ve a Facebook account, and irrespective of whether or not your own email address is linked to any of your Facebook accounts. Now, send an email to that Facebook user at the above email address [i.e., if his unique username is myname, send email at the address: myname@facebook.com]. This will be received by him as a message in his Facebook account.

Remember that if a message is sent by a friend, or a friend of friends, or by a person with whom you have exchanged messages in the past, it is received in the “Messages” folder in the Facebook account. On the other hand, if the message is sent by any other person (including by someone who is not even a Facebook user), the message goes to the “Other” sub-folder under the “Messages” folder in the Facebook account. For example, see the following screenshot, that shows a message in the “Other” sub-folder in Facebook account that I sent using the method described in this article from an email address that is not connected with any Facebook user:

Other sub-folder under Messages folder in Facebook

Other sub-folder under Messages folder in Facebook

So, the user to whom you send a message, using the method described in this article, will also have to check his “Other” sub-folder under the “Messages” folder in his Facebook account to read your message.
