If you want to share Internet connection on Windows 7 with other computers or devices, here is a free and open-source program called, Virtual Router, that can convert your Windows 7 computer into a WiFi Hotspot for wirelessly sharing Internet connection with any other WiFi-enabled device such as other computers, laptops, netbooks, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, other Smart Phones, etc. The Internet connection on Windows 7 computer can be from any source such as WiFi, dial-up connection, cable modem, LAN, wireless broadband, etc. This program can also be used on the Windows 2008 (which is in development stage at the time of this writing). The Virtual Router program can be used on Windows 7 computer to share Internet connection at any place since it is done wirelessly. Thus, you can use it at home, office, restaurant, park, airport, or any other place.
The wireless connection offered by Virtual Router is through a secure encrypted connection using WPA2 by using a password. However, take care to select a strong password. Also see, how long and complex a good password should be. The program allows you to give any name to your wireless network.
This program will work on all versions of Windows 7 (except Starter edition) and Windows 2008.
